Our jewelry is crafted from high-quality brass or stainless steel, plated in 18K gold or rhodium, and sometimes left raw or gold-filled for an extra layer of luxury. Each product description provides specifics on materials and plating.

While our pieces are designed for water resistance and everyday wear, all plated jewelry will gradually fade over time. This natural process depends on how often you wear your jewelry and the environment it’s exposed to. Fading or tarnishing occurs when the metal surface comes into contact with elements such as body oils, makeup, sweat, sulfur, chlorine, hair products, perfumes, and lotions. These interactions vary in effect, sometimes causing a slight dullness or, over time, creating a deeper patina. For plated jewelry, any non-pH neutral substances can accelerate tarnishing, which is common across all high-quality plated jewelry.

Care Instructions to Maintain Brilliance:

To extend the life of your plated jewelry, gently wipe each piece with a soft cloth after wearing it to remove any oils or residues. If your jewelry comes into contact with oils or chemicals, we recommend rinsing it briefly in warm, unscented soapy water. A soft toothbrush is ideal for cleaning delicate areas, especially in intricate designs. Once washed, dry your pieces completely with a soft cloth or allow them to air-dry flat.

Re-Plating Service for Renewed Shine:

If your jewelry has developed tarnish beyond what cleaning can restore, our re-plating service can bring back its original luster. We offer thick 18K gold or rhodium re-plating with a protective coating to help maintain its shine. Our service allows you to re-plate Lace by Tanaya pieces as many times as you wish, and you can even choose different finishes like rhodium (silver), gunmetal, or rose gold for a refreshed look.
